A 2-1 mark in strikeout props Wednesday brings our record to 8-7 on the week. Only two days left to cap off a profitable week, so let's keep the momentum rolling with my three favorite K props for Thursday's abbreviated MLB slate.
The Washington Nationals have been one of the toughest teams to strike out all season long. Washington has recorded the second-fewest strikeouts in MLB through 102 games, but I think Kodai Senga can crack this lineup Thursday.
In nine home starts this season, Senga is averaging 7.3 strikeouts per game. The rookie has also gone over this number in six of his last seven starts, and he fanned seven Nationals in his lone start against the division rivals back in April. Take the over.
The Chicago Cubs have been blitzing starting pitchers of late. Since the All-Star break, the Cubs rank No. 1 in MLB in batting average (.301), OPS (.873), and runs per game (7.2). Lance Lynn, one of baseball's premier strikeout artists, managed just five Ks against Chicago in 100 pitches. Add in the fact that Miles Mikolas has gone over this number only once in his last 10 starts, and you've got a delicious recipe for an under.
It's hard to bet against Dylan Cease and his 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings, but this is the only matchup that makes me comfortable with an under bet here. The Cleveland Guardians are simply not striking out since the All-Star break.
In their last 12 games, the Guardians have struck out just 5.5 times per game. The next-best mark over that span belongs to the Washington Nationals, who have struck out 6.9 times per game since the break. I'll take my chances on a lineup that's seeing the ball well from top to bottom.
