'On her way to becoming one of the best players,' Andy Roddick stunned by 22-year-old Iga Swiatek’s incredible stats

Roddick, on his Served with Andy Roddick podcast, heaped praise on the Pole for her achievements despite her being just 22.

Swiatek, four majors, nine Masters 1000 titles already. 20 total titles. You could chop her resume into a third and I think she would still have it, however many, 100, some odd weeks at number one, since Ash Barty retired and kind of handed the number one ranking over to her. Swiatek is on her way to becoming one of the best players of all time. Andy Roddick said

Swiatek will participate at the Rome Open on May 10th. She lifted the title in the Italian capital in 2021 and 2022 and will join an elite list if she wins there for the third time.

Andy Roddick draws a comparison between Iga Swiatek and Rafael Nadal 

Iga Swiatek idolizes 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal and, like the King of Clay, she has dominated on clay courts over the last few years, clinching three Roland Garros singles titles (2020, 2022, and 2023 ).

Andy Roddick drew an interesting comparison between Swiatek and Nadal by observing how the Pole struggles on slow clay courts but the results, still, end in her favor. 

It feels like a Rafa thing, where even if she struggles in majors, on a slow surface like Indian Wells, on a slow surface like Roland Garros, she is going to continue to win. Andy Roddick said in an episode of Served with Andy Roddick podcast

Roddick is a former US Open champion and retired in 2012 (singles) and 2015 (doubles). He bagged 32 career titles in singles and reached the top of the rankings in 2003. 

Talking about Swiatek, she lifted three titles this season (Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, and recently the Madrid Open). The World No. 1 saved three championship points to bag her first title in the Spanish capital by beating Aryna Sabalenka in a thriller with a scoreline of 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(9-7).
